Topics and Speaker
- Pat Lanthier on "Connected, Protected, Educated, Sustainable Communities"
- All businesses are part of communities, in good times…and, bad. In the rapidly changing and increasingly connected world we enjoy, businesses are asserting their role as critical components of “Connected, Protected, Educated, Sustainable Communities”. The most successful businesses embrace change and harness disruptive technologies through innovative leadership, effective collaboration and a holistic vision that builds real synergy. Via interactive discussion, we will explore global insights into these characteristics, which culminate in the creation of “HA/DR 2.0” (Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief, version 2.0). Applied Research and Development examples from academia, the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, the United Nations, Emergency Management Agencies, and others, will be discussed…with a “Whole of Society” approach in mind.
- Continued Discussion and Workshop including projects and research going on at the Emergency Communications Leadership & Innovation Center (eCLIC) at Carnegie Mellon University-Silicon Valley
