Paula Scalingi will speak on lifeline interdependencies and on regional recovery decision-making, rebuilding housing/commercial facilities, and other priority business resumption issues.  She will also cover significant findings from recent disasters in other parts of the nation that can illuminate challenges Bay Area businesses will face, and provide examples of model approaches and useful solutions these regions adopted to expedite post disaster business resumption.

The second part of our program will feature an open discussion on Business Continuity Program Awareness in the Workplace– what works, what doesn’t, and ideas for improvement.

Meeting location is on the second floor in the Board Room (no food or drink allowed in room). The networking lunch is in the Training Room.  Enter the building, go to the second floor and check-in with security, and they can direct you to the meeting room.

Paula L. Scalingi
Executive Director of the Bay Area Center for Regional Disaster Resilience
President, The Scalingi Group, LLC.

For the past decade, she has worked with organizations of all types to improve resilience and infrastructure security.  From 2006 to mid-2011, she was Director of the Center for Regional Disaster Resilience for the Pacific Northwest Economic Region, a consortium of five U.S. states and five Canadian provinces and territories.  Currently Dr. Scalingi is partnering with the Association of Bay Area Governments and regional stakeholders to develop a disaster recovery strategy for the 12-County San Francisco Bay Area.  Dr. Scalingi is a Board member of the Infrastructure Security Partnership (TISP), principal author for TISP’s 2011 Regional Disaster Resilience Guide, and a Board member for SF CARD.  She previously was Director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection; Director, Decision and Information Sciences Division and for the Infrastructure Assurance Center at Argonne National Laboratory; Senior Strategic Affairs Advisor and Director of Public Information, U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency; staff member, U.S. House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and analyst, Central Intelligence Agency.
