Meetings

Generally, BRMA meetings are held:

• On the last Thursday of the month.
• 12:30 pm until 3:30 pm (with no-host brown-bag networking lunch an hour before the meeting most months).
• In the Bay Area including San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda and Contra Costs counties.

Except

• If a conflict with a major industry event occurs, BRMA may decide to cancel or adjust the timing of the monthly membership meeting to resolve the conflict (i.e., Spring DRJ).
• The Annual Business Meeting and Luncheon is held the first Thursday of December.
• A membership meeting is not held in November.

Meeting Format

We have a guest speaker(s) at most meeting. The topics vary, but BRMA attempts to match the suggestions of the members (from survey questionnaires distributed at each meeting and the annual program survey) with the topics covered.

Meetings include time set aside to discuss specific real world situations that our members are facing. Lessons learned and case studies are popular topics in which members describe a recent incident or disaster they experienced directly. Few months go by without someone having a story to tell of a disruption or a serious threat of a disruption.

Some meetings may be scheduled for an all day session allowing us to examine a subject in greater detail, to cover multiple subjects, or to go on a field trip. There may be fee for non-members to cover costs.

In addition, BRMA has hosted Vendor Faires or symposiums where members who are vendors of recovery products or services present their wares or a topic is examined in depth. Guests are allowed at this meeting (for a fee).

The Annual Business Meeting and Luncheon is for members only.

Guests

Guests are welcome one time to the half-day meetings for no cost. However, full day meetings, seminars, and the Annual Meeting are for members only (unless otherwise advertised). If you find your guest experience with us valuable, we suggest that you become a member since we cannot extend the guest privilege to any individual more than once.
