The Business Recovery Managers Association (BRMA) bestowed their
annual award for excellence in the field of Business Continuity to Genetech
at their annual Holiday luncheon on December 6th, 2007 in Oakland California.
The following criteria are considered in determining the
recipient:
A commitment to excellence in the field of Business Continuity
Genentech strives for Class A performance in the field of
business continuity. They use consistent processes that provide an end to end
approach to have plans in hand for all critical processes.
An established business continuity program
While Genentech is a young company by many standards (30
years), they have had an established business continuity program in place for
many years.
Promotion of business continuity practices within the
organization through awareness and education programs and by allocation of
resources
Genentech promotes business continuity practices within the
organization by using their asset management process which is used to
determine risk and establish appropriate levels of funding for projects.
Genentech has partnered with the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter (ARCBA),
to provide emergency training to all South San Francisco personnel. This
training includes preparedness for home as well as CPR and First Aid classes
for all personnel desiring such training.
Participation in activities that promote business continuity
in the community and with other businesses
Genentech encourages participation in professional
organizations such as BRMA as well as routinely sending members of their
business continuity staff to conferences for professional enhancement.
